There was a birthday yesterday…

A five-year-old boy became six…
 We baked cakes…
And had a mini feast…
There were candles lit and blown out
And I just kept looking at how big this
little boy has become… So extremely fast…
                                                                                  Best wishes everyone ~ Marica

What we saw of the solar eclipse…

We tried out the pin hole in the cardboard trick…
We took pictures of the sun with our eyes closed or only gazing just to the side…
We saw our crazy shadows on the fence…
Waving our arms and wiggling our fingers…
We saw the translucent almost X-ray like shimmer the sun and moon together made…
Did you see the eclipse?

In the kitchen…

There has been a lot of cooking lately…
The kids have been on a cake baking spree… I think there were five cakes baked in two days…
I made baked macaroni and cheese with Parmesan, sharp cheddar and aged Gouda…
 I can’t wait to make it again…
We had a lunch of fresh sauteed ahi tuna made into salad, as well as egg salad with eggs from my parent’s hens. We ate it with multi-grain bread just out of the oven and lettuce from the garden…
I think after a couple weeks of counter top building madness (that will be another post…)
finally having the kitchen back and finally having real surfaces that can so easily
be wiped clean, we are extremely happy to be in the kitchen…
                                                         Cheers ~ Marica

Mister Toad…

This big fellow was under our play pool this morning…
Hiding from the sun and and most likely the dogs…
After we said our hellos, we set him back in in his moist, dark den…
With the roly-polys and bugs that like to pertched on his back.
I’m always amazed toads can survive so far from a pond or river,
but they must have their ways…
                                               Cheers ~ Marica
